Tottenham Hotspur assistant coach Christian Strini has hinted that Bryan Gil will not leave the club in the January transfer window.
Bryan Gil has started Spurs’ last two Premier League games
The 21-year-old has been a figure on the fringes of north London since arriving from Sevilla in the summer of 2021 and spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia.
Gil was heavily linked with a permanent move to Tottenham in the summer but has remained at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to claim his place for Antonio Conte.
But after playing just six minutes of the Premier League before the World Cup break, it seems inevitable that Gil will leave in January in order to play regular first-team football.
However, Gill has started Spurs’ last two games – a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa and a comfortable 4-0 win over Crystal Palace – and scored Harry Kane’s second goal in the latter Scored a wonderful pass.
Speaking to the media ahead of Tottenham’s FA Cup third-round clash with Portsmouth, Stellini revealed that Gil may have done enough to extend his stay at the club into January after. Stellini replaced Conte following the death of Italian legend Vialli.
“I think yes, yes. He can, and he’s playing well,” Stellini said when asked if Gil would stay with the Spurs.
“We’re happy because he’s another player that we’ve worked with a lot. He’s improved a lot because he’s training at 110 per cent every day. He’s giving it his all every day and that’s why he deserves to play. A good game was a big part of that game, with an assist and a last pass before the assist. It was a great game for him.”
On the club’s transfer business, he added: “About the transfer market, I’m not the right person to talk about the transfer market because my job is to improve the players in the squad through training and playing and that’s what I do. .
“So, I think it’s better to talk about the players we have in the squad than the players we can sign in the future. I’m focused on that, we have to talk about the players we have.”
